Job description

Contract type: Full Time (37.5 Hours) – Fixed Term (until 31/12/2026)

Location: Stratford, University of Huddersfield – London Campus

Salary: £36,000 per annum

Are you driven by the chance to connect exceptional talent with meaningful opportunities? We’re seeking a dedicated internal recruiter to join our Huddersfield London Campus, playing a central role in attracting top academic and research professionals.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Talent Acquisition & Integration Manager, business stakeholders, and Talent Acquisition Specialists to deliver a smooth, high-quality hiring experience. You’ll be instrumental in strengthening our employment brand, improving recruitment and onboarding processes, and helping to build a centre of excellence within our Talent Acquisition function. From sourcing and assessing outstanding candidates to developing innovative hiring initiatives, your work will have a tangible impact on how our team grows and thrives.

As an internal recruiter, you’ll witness the direct results of your efforts—the people you bring in become your colleagues, contribute to the culture, and help shape the future of the team. This role is grounded in partnership, pride, and purpose, with a focus on quality, fit, and long-term success.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Screen prospective candidates in a timely manner to evaluate skills, qualifications, and suitability for roles at our Huddersfield London campus.
  • Ensure candidates are an excellent fit for both the role and the Study Group culture.
  • Produce and post job adverts that attract appropriate, high-quality candidates.
  • Conduct introductory screening calls focused on relevance and candidate quality.
  • Create shortlists of potential candidates and present them to Hiring Managers.
  • Regularly communicate with candidates and Hiring Managers to schedule interviews, advise on assessment criteria, and occasionally join panels to provide support.
  • Accurately record candidate information and update progress in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Build specific talent pools using internal databases and sourcing tools for hard-to-fill roles.
  • Proactively approach passive candidates for open vacancies using a variety of sourcing tools and systems.
  • Align recruitment activities with Study Group’s mission, vision, values, and strategy, translating these into daily actions.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work with changing priorities and support colleagues as required.
  • Manage and influence internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Work under pressure to deliver against challenging deadlines while managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve recruitment processes, increase quality of hire, and reduce non-value-added activity.
  • Complete ad‑hoc tasks and projects as requested by management.
  • Comply with Study Group policies and applicable laws, including Workplace Health and Safety, Anti-Discrimination and Harassment, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, and those relevant to the position.
ABOUT YOU
  • Academic recruitment experience is highly desirable.
  • Level 3 qualification
  • Recruitment qualification (desirable)
  • CIPD qualification (desirable)
  • Substantial experience in an in‑house or RPO environment is preferred, though this is also an excellent opportunity for someone from a recruitment agency background to move in‑house. Agency experience is a strength.
  • Experience recruiting across multiple functions (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Admin, Operations) is also highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), CV databases, and recruitment platforms.
  • Understanding of the full 360 recruitment cycle.
  • Demonstrable consultative approach to managing effective candidate and stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, take ownership of tasks, and see them through to successful outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, with a positive outlook and genuine passion for recruitment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Acute attention to detail is a must.
