We have a fantastic opening for a Rigging Team Assistant to join our Arenas Rigging Team on a fixed term basis for 12 months.

You will be working across two of the UK’s top 10 arenas which hold over 200 events and welcome 1.5 million fans every year. Based in Birmingham City Centre and on the NEC Campus in Solihull, you will be part of a team that welcomes people to a wide variety of events, from concerts and comedy to sporting and family events; no two days are ever the same!

This role will lead, coordinate, and allocate rigging staff, equipment, and resources, ensuring the delivery of all event and non‑event rigging services in compliance with Health & Safety standards, agreed timelines, and budgetary requirements. Additionally, the role provides operational support to riggers, trainees, freelancers, and agency personnel, fostering high individual and team performance to maintain service excellence aligned with business objectives across NEC and City Centre sites.

• Serve as the main point of contact for rigging staff, trainees, and freelance crew, ensuring clear communication and resolving queries.
• Coordinate rostering and resource allocation for rigging teams and external crews, balancing event and non‑event requirements.
• Oversee safe delivery of rigging services, enforce Health & Safety compliance, and manage risk assessments across all activities.
• Assist with pre‑rigs, load‑ins, load‑outs, and maintenance; monitor and document inspections of rigging equipment and MEWPs.
• Lead projects, represent the rigging team in meetings, and manage training plans to maintain high performance standards.

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

• Knowledge of relevant regulations (LOLER, Working at Height, PUWER) and commitment to Health & Safety standards.
• Previous experience in a similar role within the live events industry, demonstrating adaptability and a keen interest in learning. Positive, proactive attitude with strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working at height and familiar with ground rigging practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to perform under pressure and make clear, assertive decisions.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and Teams; highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects.
