We are looking for an experienced Dietetic lead to join our friendly and supportive team, as a lead for our Health Board Community Dietetic service. You will work closely with our Community clinical leads, Dietetic service leads, CNS nutrition nurses, professional practice nurses and Malnutrition strategic lead, to ensure Malnutrition is a key priority, embedded operationally across acute pathways Health Board wide.

Main duties of the job

You will manage a team of Clinical lead Dietitian’s working in Community HB wide, lead on workforce strategy and service development plans.

You will have excellent communication and team working skills and will work collaboratively with the wider multi professional team, to ensure all aspects of Community Nutrition support are embedded safely in practice. A key aspect of this role is developing, implementing, and evaluating the development of a cohesive healthboard wide community service, ensuring a robust supervision and governance structure is in place, whilst embedding a candid and learning culture.

You will set the direction of travel for community, intermediate and urgent dietetic service and will pro-actively lead and support clinical leads with performance reporting. You will have a passion for promoting workforce wellbeing, as well as driving professional development opportunities, utilising the pillars of professional practice. You will be pro‑active in highlighting the work of community Dietetics and will have experience in innovation, transformation and quality improvement.

You will have extensive knowledge and experience of specialist aspects of community dietetics and will hold a caseload of complex community caseload and clinics. This post is across the health board, requiring travel across sites. Ideally based in Ceredigion, however this post base can considered flexible to the right candidate.

Working for our organisation

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in‑hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in:

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications and knowledge
  • HCPC registration with a degree in Dietetics
  • Additional professional clinical knowledge and / or qualifications acquired through specialist training, qualification or equivalent experience: willingness to work towards a Master’s qualification.
  • Expert knowledge of community based dietetic and home enteral feeding process, national clinical guidance and emerging evidence base in areas of speciality within community dietetics
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply evidence‑based methodology to support engagement, improvement, and service planning
  • Member of the BDA
  • FODMAP trained
  • Formal Motivational Interviewing qualification
  • Member of BDA Specialist network and / or related BDA subgroup
Experience
  • Substantial postgraduate experience in team leadership and line management
  • Multi‑professional working
  • Project / quality improvement / development work, with demonstrable outcomes.
  • Working at a strategic level, and of engaging and influencing
  • Significant clinical experience of managing a complex, demanding workload using advanced clinical reasoning
