A major NHS provider is looking for a Clinical Research Fellow to join the Rheumatology Team in Basingstoke. The ideal candidate has GMC registration, experience at SpR level, and an interest in clinical research. Responsibilities include supporting the Rheumatology outpatient service, managing trials, and improving patient care. Come and Join our dynamic department as a Clinical Research Fellow attached to the Rheumatology Team. We are looking for a doctor workng at SpR level with Rheumatology and research experience.
The majority of time in this post is to support and develop clinical research in the Rheumatology Department, working with the Rheumatology Research Nurses and the Rheumatology Research Lead.
It will also involve providing support to the Rheumatology Department – outpatient clinics, ward referrals, Day Case Unit.
Deliver clinical expertise to the Rheumatology Research Nurses to ensure clinical information on patients in trials are collated in a timely fashion. Support patients while recruiting to clinical trials, consenting patients, collating clinical data and ensuring accuracy. Increasing recruits to NIHR portfolio studies.
Attending CRN research fellow development days. The post holder will be expected to gain experience to allow them to become confident as a Principle Investigator (PI).
You will be expected to develop your clinical skills in the management of patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases and your educational needs will be tailored according to your career intentions.
The postholder will provide support for our outpatient service but will also be involved with inpatient care, which is an integral part of the whole rheumatology service. This post will provide support for our Rheumatology outpatient service but also help us to achieve our 5 year goal of excellent care in Rheumatology including our biologics, CTD and fracture liaison services. Setting up an Ankylosing Spondylitis service, Rheumatology transition to adulthood and Fracture Liaison services are particular areas in development at the present time.

The hospitals in Basingstoke and Winchester provide a comprehensive range of acute services as well as being a tertiary referral centre for colorectal, liver, peritoneal carcinomatosis, haemophilia and pseudomyxoma surgery.
Services are provided across Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover sites.

We are a dynamic team of consultants, with three colleagues with dual accreditation in Rheumatology and GIM. We are supported by enthusiastic nurse practitioners. Our Specialist Nurses run outpatient clinics, a Patient Advice Line service, provide joint injection clinics and support the role of the medical team.
