Job description
Job overview

Are you an experienced Youth Worker seeking a new opportunity helping support hard-to-reach youth groups?

We are pleased to offer a one-year fixed-term Youth Worker role, on a full time basis within CAMHS, to support a Health Inequalities project. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Youth Worker who is looking for a varied role and to make a difference to the mental health needs of varying communities and groups.

You will help explore the causes and barriers preventing certain groups from accessing our services and identify ways to improve access for hard-to-reach groups, including boys, ethnic minorities, Roma communities, the global majority, and young people out of education.

We are particularly concerned that mental health issues and trauma may be overlooked in adolescent boys, who are more often referred to drug and alcohol or youth justice services.

The project aims to collect data on access obstacles and trial pilot projects to boost engagement from underrepresented groups. You will also audit the representation of diverse children and young people across BaNES, Swindon, and Wiltshire (BSW).

You will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and those of the communities served.

We are seeking to employ a Youth Worker who has a strong interest in mental health and addressing health inequalities.

Main duties of the job
  • Audit and evaluate CAMHS provision across BSW to assess representation and accessibility for hard-to-reach groups.
  • Provide insights into population data for each geographical area to inform targeted interventions.
  • Plan and manage the delivery of targeted outreach and support activities for identified individuals or groups.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with local voluntary organisations, community groups, charities, and faith-based organisations.
  • Work collaboratively with Police, Youth Justice, Drug and Alcohol services, Children’s Social Care, and other partners to address challenges faced by hard-to-reach groups.

Please refer to the job description attached for a comprehensive list of duties.
