A healthcare organization in Scotland is seeking Lay Representatives to contribute to the education of doctors. Responsibilities include attending quality management visits, participating in committee meetings, and taking part in recruitment events. Good team working, flexibility, and communication skills are essential. The role is remunerated at £24.50 per hour plus travel expenses, with an initial tenure of three years, subject to review. Interviews will be conducted online in January 2026.
Postgraduate Medical Education and Training
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is a Special Health Board that provides education and training for NHS staff. The NES Medical Directorate Scotland Deanery is now looking for members of the public who would like to become involved in the education of doctors. The main role of a Lay Representative is to help ensure that due process is followed.
The work will be ongoing throughout the year. The majority of sessions will be organised locally by the Scotland Deanery but participation in activities in other parts of Scotland may be necessary. Training will be provided.
Knowledge of the NHS is not essential; however good team working skills, flexibility and communication skills are key aspects of these posts.
Attendance will be remunerated at £24.50 per hour in addition to travel expenses. Initial tenure is for three years, subject to annual review.
Interviews will be held online on the 26th and 27th January 2026.
