We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role

This is a truly exceptional opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Service Manager to lead a dedicated team of Advanced Support Worker Specialists supporting a remarkable young man with complex needs in Burtonwood, Warrington. Since his discharge from long-term hospital care 18 months ago, where he was supported in long-term segregation, he has made remarkable progress. He now has a real energy for life, continues to develop confidence and emotional regulation, and is taking the first steps towards engaging more with his community. He also has real ambitions for his future, which he is actively working towards, making this an exciting opportunity for a leader to help shape and support his journey.

We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and emotionally intelligent leader who thrives on challenge and is passionate about delivering person-centred, life-changing support. You will work closely with the team of Advanced Support Worker Specialists, guiding and inspiring them to deliver innovative, evidence-based care that helps the young man continue to thrive. Your role will be pivotal in creating a positive, ambitious, and supportive culture where the team can perform at their best while delivering the highest quality care.

Practice Leadership

Practice leadership is central to this role. You will support the team in implementing the care and support plan, model best practice, and ensure that proactive, tailored interventions are delivered consistently. You will facilitate positive risk-taking, encourage reflective practice, and promote continuous learning, ensuring the team is skilled, confident, and resilient. Your guidance will help shape a high-performing service where every decision is informed, thoughtful, and focused on achieving the best outcomes for the person supported.

Working in Partnership with the NHS National HOPE(s) Team

As Service Manager, you will work closely with the NHS National HOPE(s) Team, who provide clinical leadership for the care package. This partnership brings together clinical expertise and social care leadership, creating an integrated model of support. The HOPE(s) Team ensures that the support delivered is therapeutically informed, structured, and responsive to changing needs.

About the Young Man and the Team

Since his discharge, he has demonstrated a remarkable energy for life and curiosity, and is increasingly able to interact positively with his support team. He enjoys music, films, football, and being active, thriving on activities that match his interests. He has ambitions for his future that he is actively working towards, making this an exciting time to support his ongoing development.

He has a complex profile, including a diagnosis of Autism, Learning Disabilities, Tourette’s Syndrome, OCD, Receptive Language Disorder, a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile, and extreme trauma-related anxiety, which contributes to the complexity of his support needs and requires a skilled, experienced, and patient team.

The team at Burtonwood are highly experienced in supporting people with autism and complex behaviours, maintaining a structured, nurturing environment that promotes wellbeing, confidence, and meaningful engagement. They are skilled in translating his progress into personalised support, ensuring he continues to thrive and that every step forward is supported effectively.

About the Role

As Service Manager, you will lead, inspire, and develop a team of Advanced Support Worker Specialists, ensuring they feel supported, motivated, and confident in their roles. You will deliver effective practice leadership and ensure the consistent implementation of personalised support plans, promoting a positive, ambitious, and person-centred culture within the service. You will work closely with the NHS HOPE(s) Team and other professionals to uphold quality, safeguarding, and best practice, while ensuring robust care planning, risk management, and record keeping. Your leadership will drive high standards, accountability, and continuous improvement, helping the young man reach his potential.

About You

You will be an experienced leader in complex care, autism, or supporting people with complex behaviours, with a track record of developing high-performing teams. You will be confident in managing behaviours that may challenge, using proactive, reflective, and innovative approaches. You will be organised, resilient, and emotionally intelligent, with the ability to inspire and motivate those around you.
