Job summary
A recruitment agency based in Rhyl is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate – Principal grades) for a hybrid working role. You will design mechanical infrastructure, produce drawings, and mentor junior engineers on UK water projects. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is proficient in design software. This position offers a salary between £35,000 and £65,000 plus benefits.
Qualifications
- Previous experience on UK water projects, AMP framework knowledge beneficial.
- Chartered or near-chartered status (IMechE or equivalent) desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver mechanical infrastructure including clean and wastewater treatment works.
- Produce detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead mechanical packages for more complex schemes.

Our client is looking for Mechanical Engineers to join their growing team in Rhyl to support long-term delivery on the Welsh Water framework.
- Design and deliver mechanical infrastructure including clean and wastewater treatment works
- Produce detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications
- Undertake site assessments, surveys, and support construction reviews
- Work with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure design compliance
- Ensure adherence to WIMES, DWI, and industry mechanical standards
- Mentor junior engineers and lead mechanical packages for more complex schemes (at senior levels)
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- Previous experience on UK water projects (AMP framework knowledge beneficial)
- Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor etc.
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Chartered or near-chartered status (IMechE or equivalent) desirable
