Pay: £13.00 per hour
Location: Elsenham, High Street, Bishops Stortford
Working Style: Operational field-based worker
Support schools once each in the morning and evening, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and surrounding locations. The role requires approximately 7.5 hours per week, available for 39 weeks during the academic year. Working hours are about 45 minutes between 08:00‑09:00 and 45 minutes between 14:45‑15:45. Uniform, equipment and training will be provided.
- Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially those with mobility impairments, when managing the crossing.
- Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
- Regularly assess risks associated with operating at the crossing site, identify problems, and report defects to the supervisor.
- Assist in preparing reports on accidents and failures to stop incidents, and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
- Ensure all uniform and equipment provided are maintained in good condition and request replacements when needed.
- Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensure traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
Punctual and reliable individual who is approachable and enjoys engaging with the public.
Ability to work during the specified hours across the academic year.
