Job overview

You will be involved in providing high quality Hand Therapy to a diverse and interesting case mix. It is desirable to have a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology and possession of splinting skills however, full training will be given. You will be fully supported as you develop your clinical skills within the team.

We are seeking someone who can adapt to a changing and challenging environment and work in a busy outpatient department, demonstrating strong prioritisation, delegation and time management skills. You will need strong communication skills both written and verbal.

The service is continuing to develop and you would be expected to be an active participant in that development.

Job Overview :

  • To deliver effective therapy for patients accessing the outpatient hands and plastics service ,utilsing specialized, in-depth theoretical and technical skills.
  • To independently manage and prioritise a caseload of patients with acute ,complex needs using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan implement and evaluate intervention. This will be undertaken in an outpatient setting.
  • To provide support to the clinical team leads in providing leadership, supervision and appraisal for junior and support staff as well as students.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the therapy services, holding responsibility for defined projects.
Main duties of the job
  • To provide a high standard of therapy to patients with a range of acute and routine hand presentations (including post trauma ,post elective surgery ) in an outpatient setting within the hands and plastics service .
  • To perform specialist therapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex needs, to provide diagnosis, develop, and deliver individualised treatment programme.
  • To be actively involved in the implementation of specific changes to practice and protocols.
  • You will support the organisational objectives around prioritising patient centred care and optimising quality care and patient experience; as well as supporting patient flow through the organization
