Overview
Advanced Practitioner Speech and Language Therapist - SLT AAC Coordinator role at NHS Ayrshire & Arran. The post is part of a multi-disciplinary team and involves managing a defined caseload, using evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. The service provides comprehensive, highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy to clients with communication and/or eating/drinking/swallowing difficulties in a variety of settings. The post holder is expected to have high level clinical skills and experience across a broad spectrum of complex diagnoses and etiologies.
Responsibilities
The role includes duty variation by client group and service demands. Core duties may include:
- Deliver comprehensive, highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to clients with communication and/or eating/drinking/swallowing difficulties.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions for a defined caseload.
- Utilise evidence-based practice to support clinical decision making and leadership within the specialty.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary/agency team and contribute to service delivery in various settings.
Requirements and Qualifications
What we’ll need you to bring
- Registered Speech and Language Therapist with valid HCPC Registration.
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level.
- Post-graduate expertise within speciality/area of practice with breadth of knowledge to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
- Advanced specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures to deliver leadership within the speciality.
- Evidence of application of advanced practice skills and clinical judgement.
- Evidence of management and/or leadership experience.
- Postgraduate CPD in area of speciality (courses, study days, qualifications).
- Excellent teamwork/leadership skills and ability to motivate, influence others, and work on own initiative.
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time management.
- Working knowledge of basic information technology.
- Full driving licence holder.
It would be great if you also have
- Attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training up to Masters level or equivalent in clinical areas.
- Member of RCSLT.
- Postgraduate leadership/management training.
- Personal development planning and portfolio evidence.
- Extensive experience in AAC and specialist area.
- Knowledge of AAC systems and local guidelines/policies.
- Ability to train others in AAC management.
Contract, location and working pattern
- Contract type: Permanent
- Employment type: Part-time
- Hours: 18.50 hours (part-time; pro-rata salary)
- Location: Speech and Language Therapy within Lanarkshire
