Job summary
A shipbuilding company located in Port Glasgow is seeking a Plant Electrician to ensure the functionality of production machinery. This role offers an entry-level position for those completing their Electrical Apprenticeship. Responsibilities include installing and repairing electrical equipment, maintaining appropriate documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Rate: c£17.07
This is a Fixed Term Position to December 2025 to support the production plan, ensuring delivery of production to set timescales/department targets and to quality standards.
- Install and repair systems, apparatus, electrical and industrial machinery and equipment following current electrical regulations, manufacturers guidelines and technical drawings.
- Carry out routine maintenance and scheduled checks set to them by Supervision and log and sign on the relevant documentation.
- Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns.
- Communicate issues and problems to senior management with relevant time scales for resolution of the issues.
Experience Required
- Completion of a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or completion of a recognised vocational education program in electrical or industrial electrical or industrial training.
- Confident with principles of electronic theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits, wiring and electrical equipment used in power generation.
- Understand theory of operation and use of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) units and other computer-based equipment.
- Understand methods, equipment and materials used in the electrical trade.
Additional Information
- Shift pattern - Monday to Thursday - 6.45-4.30pm (Mon-Thurs)
- Fixed Term contract until December 2025
