Thank you for your interest in this exciting opportunity for a band 5 Burns and Plastics nurse. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our already established team of nurses, specialist nurses and advance practitioners.

The post holder will have a passion for wound care and work within our nurse led Burns and Plastics treatment centre, caring for post op plastic surgery patients including skin cancers, hand trauma, breast reconstruction and lower leg complex care, as well as providing care to our burn injury patients across Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire. In addition to this, participation in managing our video led 'virtual' clinics will be required.

We run a busy outpatients clinic Monday-Friday and would like the post holder to have previous experience working as a band 5 within a clinical setting, leadership and autonomous working experience would also be beneficial though not essential.

• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients.
• Responsible for the patients within the Burns and Plastics Treatment Centre (BPTC). Involving wound assessment, treatment planning using evidence based practice and evaluating outcomes
• Assisting and contributing in the management and organisation of burns and Plastics Treatment Centre (BPTC)
• Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
• Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
• Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust:

• Work autonomously, providing an effective nurse-led service as needs dictate.
• Demonstrate comprehensive holistic assessment of patients utilising a variety of advanced clinical skills, while acting as a role model, in line with the Clinical Nurse Specialist role for the service.
• To assess and diagnose specific symptoms within your scope of practice. Advise medical and nursing staff and/or prescribe medications according to patients requirements, writing a record in the medical notes and reassessing according to the individual patient needs.
• Provide an effective and accessible telephone advice service for patients and families and their carers.
• Support innovations and change related to improvement of clinical services in relation to the speciality.
• To participate in reviews of performance against Key Performance Indicators and co-operate in addressing areas of concern, in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
• Collaborate in the development and monitoring of a job plan to ensure role and personal effectiveness.

• RGN1st or 2nd Level
• Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery
• Has the physical ability to perform the full range of nursing duties
• Evidence of Continuing Professional development or evidence of a reflective profile
• Evidence of post registration development within wound care
• N.P.W.T competent

• Demonstrates satisfactory clinical expertise for the band applied for
• Experience will be dependent on the post /ward requirements at the time of Recruitment.

• High level of wound assessment skills
• Evidence based treatment planning
