Job summary
A well-established manufacturing company in North Yorkshire seeks a Head of SHEQ to lead safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. Responsibilities include managing the SHEQ team, ensuring compliance with ISO standards, and conducting site inspections. Ideal candidates will have over 5 years of experience in SHEQ, strong leadership skills, and relevant certifications. - Lead, manage, motivate, and develop the SHEQ team across the business
- Develop, implement, and maintain SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems in line with legislation, ISO standards, and best practice
- Lead the SHEQ strategy across manufacturing facilities and customer construction sites
- Promote a strong culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and quality assurance
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and improvement opportunities
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, contractual, and statutory requirements
- Manage internal and external audits for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and non-conformances, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior SHEQ role within the construction or engineering sector
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and CDM regulations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Highly analytical with excellent attention to detail
- Proactive approach to risk management and problem‑solving
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management, or a related discipline
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent professional certification (highly desirable)
