Asset Compliance, Stock & Logistics Manager

Assignment: Permanent

Location: Kimpton Premises, and visiting customer/supplier sites as required

Start Date: ASAP

Essential Skills / Qualifications / Attributes
  • An excellent ability to maintain thorough digital records. (Very good computer literacy is essential).
  • Grounded practical hands‑on knowledge/abilities to undertake basic equipment inspection/maintenance.
  • Good understanding of managing construction equipment hires, site supply logistics, stocks, and asset tracking/compliance.
  • Good forward planning skills to ensure that both scheduled, and non‑scheduled, tasks are reliably and properly closed out on time.
  • Highly organised, methodical, with good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (minimum class B), held for minimum of 5 years, and having previous experience of driving 3.5t GVW vans.
  • Practical stores/stock management experience.
  • Safe (hands‑on) materials handling, loading and load securing skills for safety at depots and sites, as well as when on the road.
  • Good memory and time management skills to aid achieving tasks/deliveries ‘complete, right first time.’
  • Reliable and trustworthy, consciously self‑motivated to “do the right thing, even when no one else is looking.”
  • Empathy for construction programme, cost, safety, quality and environmental constraints that can affect intended plans & the team.
  • Exceptional willingness to support teamworking and being adaptable and flexible towards changing plans/tasks as & when required.
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues, customers, suppliers, and the public as required – clearly, courteously, and professionally.
  • Sound understanding of construction site working requirements and practices.
  • Physically fit and able, being capable of undertaking regular manual handling tasks when required.

General Statement

The role requires a can‑do, hands‑on, pro‑active approach and an organised tenacious character to get the job done, while operating within our FIT values. Duties
  • To manage the company asset tracking and asset compliance functions for company premises and equipment.
  • To manage the company equipment hire parc, including negotiating hires/off hires and coordination with 3rd party hire companies.
  • To procure stock materials for stores and sites as required, ensuring procurement is compliant and competitive.
  • To maintain and manage (hands‑on) basic company stock, including the organisation of this at our premises.
  • To plan and organise in‑house logistics (3.5t van) and driver for deliveries/collections and assist loading/offloading.
  • Line management of van driver, and when required to step in (e.g. due to holidays/absence) drive the van to complete deliveries/collections yourself.
  • To ensure the activities undertaken in the warehouse and carpark areas, including loading/unloading/vehicle movements and transport are all carried out safely.
  • To load, transport, unload and distribute materials/equipment as required while observing site/road/safety requirements.
  • To assist with the distribution and gathering of materials on sites for deliveries/collections while observing site/safety requirements.
  • Manage company tools/equipment ensuring they are tested/calibrated (kept within date), and they are maintained/cleaned/quarantined/repaired to ensure operational assets are all retained in good order, and records are kept.
  • Responsible for maintaining company asset tracking system/records ensuring traceability, compliance monitoring, and accountability for company assets.
  • To act as buyer for stock items, and other general off‑the‑shelf items as required. Ensure purchases meet company compliance and operational requirements and are purchased competitively.
  • To receive deliveries into stores and manage stock levels and location.
  • To arrange for goods returns/refunds to suppliers where required.
  • To manage PPE stock levels and PPE issue log records.
  • To regularly liaise with Supervisors/Foreman to plan site delivery requirements/schedule, adapting to the needs of the business and its customers as required.
  • To keep weekly delivery ‘look ahead’ planner updated, ensuring in‑house logistic requirements are adequately planned/resourced.
  • To manage storage of site surplus returns that are retained for re‑use, and to manage waste / disposals as required.
  • To maintain records as required for audit purposes and support internal and external auditor enquiries for evidence of compliance.
  • To assist with ad‑hoc logistic challenges as required.
  • To assist as required with premises/vehicle/equipment repairs and maintenance duties, (e.g. PAT testing, LOLER inspections, Fleet Management etc).
  • Anything else reasonably required to support the needs of the business and its customers.
