CBW Staffing Solutions is recruiting an experienced and highly motivated Caretaker/Handyperson to join our busy client's Estates team based in Ashington, Northumberland. Our client manages multiple education sites across the North East region – this specific role is essential in ensuring the sites remain safe, secure and well‑maintained for service users, staff, and visitors.
- Hourly rate of £13.45 per hour
- Holiday allowance of 35 days per year, plus bank holidays approximately
- Working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week approx.
- Local Government Pension Scheme contributions of 15.7% approx.

- Carry out basic repairs, routine maintenance, and planned preventative maintenance tasks. Open and secure sites as required.
- Set up furniture, equipment, and spaces to meet operational or event needs.
- Ensure external areas are clean and free from litter on a daily basis.
- Supervise contractors and visitors to ensure compliance with procedures and safety requirements.
- Respond to and manage issues such as graffiti, vandalism, and general site upkeep.
- Clear snow and ice from designated areas during winter months.
- Work flexibly in line with opening hours, operational demands and commercial activities.
- Level 2 Maths and English (or willingness to work towards these)
- A valid driving licence
- Experience in basic trades (e.g., plumbing, joinery, painting)
- Previous work within Estates or Facilities Management
- Experience supervising or monitoring contractors
