Approximately 18,000 employees in more than 60 countries contribute significantly to GEA’s success – come and join them! We offer interesting and challenging tasks, a positive working environment in international teams and opportunities for personal development and growth in a global company.

The Innovation Centre, Queens Road, Belfast BT3 9DT

As a DevOps / Edge Platform Engineer, you will pioneer the digital transformation of agriculture, empowering software development and data engineering teams to deliver and run intelligent, connected solutions for next generation farming. Our edge device fleet supports efficient dairy farm operations and enables reliable processes and seamless data exchange between local sensors, on-site systems and cloud-based services. Together with a new European team in Northern Ireland and Germany you’ll have the opportunity to shape and build the infrastructure, processes and systems for our connected edge platform.

Who we are:
  • We are part of GEA Digital, focused on developing digital solutions and services.
  • We collaborate across disciplines and with external partners.
  • We build solutions for monitoring and managing systems for the dairy farming industry.
  • Our tech stack includes Azure, GitHub, Docker and CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Azure DevOps.
Your responsibilities and tasks:
  • CI/CD Platform Management: Set up, operate, and scale CI/CD platforms (GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Nexus) to enable efficient and reliable software delivery across development teams.
  • Service Integration: Support development teams in deploying, integrating, and operating services on the edge platform.
  • Fleet Management: Set up, refine, and maintain a centralized management system for edge devices deployed across multiple agricultural sites; implement automated provisioning workflows using DevOps tools and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Centralized Update Management: Plan and execute coordinated firmware and software updates to edge devices with minimal disruption to farm operations; connect and integrate edge devices with cloud services and central platforms using secure and reliable communication protocols.
  • Security & Compliance: Enforce security policies, manage certificates, and implement solutions to ensure secure communication between devices and platforms; ensure operational reliability, availability, and performance through centralized logging, monitoring, and observability tools.
  • Operational Excellence: Set up and maintain processes and tools to detect, diagnose, resolve, and prevent operational issues across the edge environment.
Your profile and qualifications:
  • Strong foundation in computer science, automation technology, or a related technical field.
  • Experience working with industrial edge devices, ideally including Welotec hardware.
  • Solid background in DevOps practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and containerization.
  • Proficiency with Linux systems, networking configurations, and common IoT communication protocols.
  • Comfortable working in agricultural environments and addressing challenges such as animal welfare, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Self‑motivated, structured, and organized working style with a collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support on‑site operations.
  • Hybrid role: This is a hybrid position based out of our Belfast office.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
