Job description
Join Our Team as a Regional Lead Practitioner for English at Astrea Academy Trust!

Are you passionate about delivering high quality English lessons and striving for everyone to succeed? Do you want to be seen as a leader within your subject area? Are you looking to take the next step in your career and inspire others?

If yes, then we might just have the role for you as a Regional Lead Practitioner for English to support our South Yorkshire Secondary Schools.

About the Role:

We are building an exceptional team of enthusiastic and highly skilled Regional Lead Practitioners, committed to driving excellence and transformative change in our schools. If you have a deep passion for English, a proven track record of delivering impact and outstanding results, and the expertise to break down barriers to success, empowering scholars and driving social mobility, this could be the role for you.

As a Regional Lead Practitioner, you will teach consistently excellent lessons aligned with our Trust-wide approach of delivering a knowledge-rich curriculum through explicit instruction (inspired by Rosenshein and Lemov). You will work alongside our Secondary Education Team, benefiting from the guidance of leading subject and educational experts who will provide unmatched support, constructive feedback, and meaningful opportunities for growth.

If you are interested in this role we would strongly recommend you reach out and arrange an informal conversation with one of the team or arrange to meet on site at one of our schools and see the work in action.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Raise achievement in KS4 English by teaching excellent lessons, delivering impactful specialist support, and cultivating a scholarly culture.
  • Support the design and implementation of an exceptional KS4 curriculum.
  • Provide subject-specific curriculum expertise to the wider Astrea Secondary Curriculum Team.
  • Lead on the improvement of scholar outcomes in your subject and drive forward the improvement of teaching standards.
Accountable for:
  • High-quality leadership of projects and delivering on agreed targets.
  • Securing exceptional scholar outcomes across the Trust schools.
  • Providing high-quality support in the specified subject area, and liaising with other Regional Lead Practitioners, National Subject Leads, and Heads of Department to develop curriculum plans, resources, and policies.
As a Teacher:
  • Follow programmes of work, schemes of learning, and exam specifications.
  • Take part in the review, development, and management of activities relating to the curriculum, organisation, and pastoral functions of the school.
  • Ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom (TA) support.

Please note that the above lists are not exhaustive, and further information can be found within the Job Description attached.

Why Join Us?

Astrea Academy Trust is committed to providing an inclusive, aspirational, and academic education for all our scholars. We believe in teaching powerful knowledge and creating a scholarly culture that is warm, disciplined, and joyful. Our values-driven approach ensures impeccable behaviour, allowing teachers to focus on teaching and pupils to focus on learning.
