Our people and culture are the heart of our success. We’re proud to be in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide for employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. With nearly 10,000 dedicated colleagues, we’re looking for more brilliant people who are eager to turn challenges into opportunities for a better future.

If you’re excited to learn, and ready to make a real impact, we want you on our team.

LET’S TELL YOU MORE

Severn Trent is a FTSE 100 company and one of the only ones outside London to have an all-encompassing Hydraulic Modelling department.

We welcome all graduates from diverse backgrounds, as we know diverse minds bring new ideas and a different way of thinking. We are looking for someone who wants to build their career with us and grasp new opportunities, and in return we will support you with varied experiences, training and development to provide a grounding for your future career.

HOW WILL THE PROGRAMME WORK?

You will be based at Raynesway in Derby, the heart of our operating patch. In this exciting programme, you will have the chance to discuss your development and career ambitions in your 1‑1 meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

As a Graduate Hydraulic Modeller, you have the opportunity to shape water infrastructure for growing communities through planning and delivering a variety of solutions for ambitious and complex housing and industrial developments. Through structured training and development we will build your expertise in hydraulic modelling, giving exposure to diverse projects with real impact on communities, and providing opportunities to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. You will apply hydraulic modelling techniques to real‑world challenges, ensuring efficient and sustainable water systems, collaborating with engineers, planners, and developers to integrate hydraulic considerations into development plans, preparing and presenting technical reports and insights to stakeholders, supporting project planning by assessing network capacity and performance, analysing data from multiple sources, including GIS platforms, to provide recommendations that meet environmental and company standards, delivering tailored solutions for unique locations and customer needs.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork abilities
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Stakeholder Management (Internal and external)
  • Understanding / basic experience of modelling software and GIS packages
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Solution Mindset
