A leading retailer based in Rochdale seeks an experienced Engineer to provide ongoing support for Mechanical Handling Equipment. You will perform mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis, undertake preventative maintenance, and engage directly with various manufacturers for optimal machine performance. Candidates should possess ONC/HNC qualifications or equivalent experience, along with solid background in electrical and mechanical systems. Provide Engineering support of the Mechanical Handling Equipment, associated systems machinery & equipment on site at Kingsway Rochdale. Working to the highest standards to maximise operational efficiency and ensure continuous availability for Operations.
Areas of impact: Service Team colleagues, Technical Planner and Engineering shift teams, Service Team Leader & Operations, external customers and stakeholders.
The role holder works within highly mechanised DC’s, with various types of MHE including automatic cranes, conveyors, elevators, sorters and Facilities... The MHE was installed by several different manufacturers and are run using different PLC/WMS based systems. The Kingsway site operates 24/7, Engineers adopt a Continental Shift pattern covering all core hours in providing operational support and undertake PPM tasks during agreed windows.
Work assigned is via radio requests from the Control Room to attend and resolve breakdowns in a reactive manner. Tasks are to be captured via the CMMS system. The role holder works within clearly defined processes and boundaries but there is scope for decision making regarding how best to resolve faults, if repairs or replacement should take place during PPMs and if repairs for breakdowns should be carried out immediately or followed up.
