Wind Turbine Technician Apprenticeship – Fixed term, full time, starting as soon as possible, at Mostyn, Flintshire, GB, CH8 9HE. Salary: £17,510 in the first year, increasing annually in line with internal pay scales and the national minimum wage. Benefits include pension and private single medical cover.

About the Role

RWE Renewables offers a 3‑year apprenticeship to develop into a wind turbine technician. The first two years are classroom based at the bespoke wind turbine training facility at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl in North Wales. The third year is on‑site training at the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm in Mostyn.

Responsibilities
  • Electro/Mechanical problem solving of wind turbines, working in small teams at height in remote locations using user manuals as a reference.
  • Operating advanced mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment safely.
  • Planning tools, spares and materials required for each job.
  • Fault finding and diagnosis of wind turbine main component condition to determine if on‑site repair is possible or if the unit requires exchange.
  • Engaging in ongoing personal development and training to become a multi‑skilled technician covering all aspects of inspection, maintenance and repair.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including Science, Maths and English.
  • Willing to learn and develop.
  • Able to work at height and at sea.
  • Willing to work shifts and on call.
  • Must live within an hour of the site.
Candidate Requirements

Enthusiastic and ready to undertake a practical, high‑complexity role. Standby or on‑call attendance may be required.

Apprenticeship Schedule
  • First two years: full‑time study at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl in North Wales during term time.
  • Third year: on‑site training at the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm in Mostyn.
  • Application closing date: 20 February 2026.
  • Assessment Centre: 21 April 2026.
  • Start date: August 2026.
Accommodation & Travel

Term‑time accommodation is provided with rent and utilities paid by RWE. Daily commute costs to college are paid unless RWE provides group travel.

All reasonable travel costs to the assessment centre are paid by RWE.

Holidays

25 days (outside of term time) plus public holidays.
