08.30 - 17.00 Monday - Friday based on site at Blackburn.

Job Introduction

The Senior EHS Advisor will have responsibility for promoting a positive culture of health and safety by providing solutions across our Blackburn factory and ensuring all aspects of health and safety are in accordance with current health and safety legislation.

You will monitor and provide support, and expertise to operational teams with respect to Occupational Health & Safety, and environmental issues. This includes statistics and suitable control measures as well as assisting with and advising on all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environment across the site.

You will be proactive and collaborative, actively supporting incident problem resolution, improvement programmes and the management of risk supported by IDEX Corporate EHS team.

Role Responsibility
  • Promote and develop a Safety Culture which secures effective leadership and employee participation through implementation of policies, procedures, and responsibilities throughout PPE Blackburn.

  • Ensure compliance with all IDEX Environment, Health and Safety, Risk, Business Continuity and Policies and Processes.

  • In conjunction with the IDEX Corporate EHS team, develop and implement the site EHS annual objectives and plans needed to meet business requirements and lead the HSE team to deliver on key HSE objectives.

  • Review and implement local and IDEX policies and procedures for Environment, Health and Safety and liaise with operations teams to ensure that appropriate monitoring is in place so that all personnel understand and are adequately trained to carry out their individual responsibilities in relation to health and safety at work.

  • Ensure the implementation of the IDEX or local EHS framework and tools that will assist and develop the operational line management teams to manage a safe working environment for the wellbeing of employees, visitors and contractors.

  • Continuous improvement in the management and reduction of incidents and accident rates.

  • Support a Zero Accident mindset through first aid and near miss reporting across sites.

  • Provide Environment, Health & Safety advice to PPE colleagues at all levels.

  • Prepare and distribute periodic HSE reports, including but not limited to incident reports and finding reports from incident investigations, monthly KPI reports, and facility inspections.

  • Undertake relevant risk assessments and site inspections, which includes Identifying potential hazards and determining ways of reducing risks.

  • Manage the arrangements for incident, accident and statutory inspections and enquiries, agreeing and implementing necessary changes.

  • Works with the SLT members and IDEX corporate EHS as needed to interface with all applicable environmental and safety regulatory agencies.

  • Undertake regular Health and Safety inspections and audits (with safety representatives as necessary) and report findings.

  • Support the maintenance of EHS systems to retain ISO accreditation.

  • Ensure that systems for identifying and recording Environment, Health and Safety training (including induction) operate properly

  • Manage the implementation and execution of the EHS software system - Gensuite

  • Work with the broader IDEX EHS team as needed on any matters that require additional support

  • Attend relevant Environment, Health and Safety meetings including the broader IDEX EHS team meetings

  • Provide holiday and absence cover for aspects of the Head of EHS role as required.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Occupational Health & Safety in a mid-level role with industry experience with a willingness to develop & gain a Health and Safety Qualification.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Excellent operations/ relationship management abilities.

  • Experience working in a standards/compliance environment.

  • Ideally a Health and Safety Qualification - IOSH / NEBOSH (min diploma to Grad IOSH) or working towards.

  • Current knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
