BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care (Awarded by University of Greater Manchester)

Our BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care Degree gives students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and practical experience to support vulnerable people such as children, older children and adults with disabilities or mental health issues within the health, social care and mental health settings, while incorporating simulated learning within our designated hospital simulation, anatomageand counselling rooms.

Throughout the three-year course you will undertake practice placement modules that will allow you to apply your skills and knowledge in the area of practice that interests you within the health and social care sector the health where you will develop an insight into the industry for your future career.

96 UCAS points. We accept a full range of qualifications that carry UCAS points, including A-levels, BTECs and T levels. Subjects relevant to the study of health and social care are preferred. You should also have five GCSEs at grade C or above or grade 4 to 9 (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics. If you don't meet the entry requirements we do offer a foundation year which is 48 UCAS points. You should also have five GCSEs at grade C or above or grade 4 to 9 (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.

Assessment

Health and Social Care tutors promote the transfer of learning between academic theory and work based learning. Teaching and learning methods are varied including individual study, lectures, group activities, speakers and on line learning. Work-based learning is integral to the course aims, enabling the evaluation of skills and knowledge in practice. Assessment methods are varied and include presentations, essays, workbooks, portfolio and reflective accounts and practical exams.

Further study is a popular option for health and social care graduates. For some career areas, such as social work, nursing, research and teaching, additional study is required to achieve professional recognition.
