Job summary

We are delighted to advertise a Consultant in Otorhinolaryngology with a special interest in Rhinology to join a very dynamic and forward‑looking department.
The successful candidate will lead the subspecialty for Rhinology, delivering care for the population of Hywel Dda University Health Board. The role provides an opportunity to influence service improvement through innovative technology and pathway reform while working as part of the Welsh Clinical Implementation Group for Ear, Nose and Throat and Audiology.
If successful, you would join a small team of passionate and impactful colleagues dedicated to their patients and service delivery.
Candidates must be a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (or equivalent) and have CCT or be eligible for inclusion on the specialist register.
The post reports directly to the Clinical Director & Acute General Manager/Clinical Team Lead within the Specialty, with ultimate accountability to the Chief Executive. Primary base is at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen with outpatient clinics on peripheral sites.
Core duties include direct clinical contact through outpatient clinics, ward rounds and theatre activity; administration and validation of patients with research and audit opportunities; maintaining clinical competence through registration and continuous professional development; working closely with senior management and contributing to service improvement and departmental governance; and teaching/mentoring junior staff.
As a senior employee of the Health Board, the post holder will work in close co‑operation with, and support other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high‑quality healthcare to the Health Board’s patients.
