Team Manager - Surfacing or Corrosion# Corrosion/Surface Engineering Team Manager**Location**: Cambridge**Contract**: Permanent**Hours**: Full time**Job Profile**: Team Manager**Salary/annum**: Min £35,000 - Max £67,243**Closing Date**: 26 January 2026**Description of role:**TWI’s ‘Metallurgy, Corrosion and Surface Engineering’ Section supports a global client base via its expertise in materials performance, characterisation/testing, coating/surface engineering, microstructure property relationships and welding metallurgy, combined with broad knowledge of issues affecting materials in industrial service. Projects and technical activities range from rapid turn-round failure investigations to long-term R&D programmes for individual companies, consortia of companies and Governmental programmes in Energy, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Heavy Engineering and Transport sectors.The Corrosion or Surfacing Team Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations (quality, financial performance, business development) in the Corrosion or Surfacing theme of the section and assists in longer-term strategic planning, development and delivery of a portfolio of single client and collaborative projects, through a team of Engineers. This includes delivering high client satisfaction, staff development, and technology development, whilst working with the leadership team to achieve orders, income, costs and contribution targets.We seek to recruit a motivated individual to join the team in the role of Team Manager, to support either the Corrosion or Surface Engineering theme within the section. The individual must have with strong knowledge of corrosion or surfacing, project management expertise, and leadership skills.**Key accountabilities*** Lead and develop a team of Engineers, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with TWI’s values.* Oversee work allocation and successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of technical projects.* Provide coaching, mentoring, and structured development plans to support the growth of team members.* Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Business Development, technical sections, MPL, and Commercial to ensure project sales and delivery.* Manage complex engineering projects for TWI Industrial Members, delivering to standard and within budget.* Work alongside the Section Manager to develop strategic plans for the future of the technology theme.* Support TWI Industrial Members to develop relationships and business opportunities for the future.**For further details, please follow the Job Description link below**:TWI Ltd is a world expert in engineering, materials and joining technologies with significant property assets.
