A local government authority in Cheltenham seeks an experienced Commercial Building Surveyor to manage a diverse portfolio of commercial properties. Responsibilities include supporting maintenance projects and asset management strategies across around 200 buildings. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in building surveying, a relevant degree, and must possess strong teamwork skills. Cheltenham Borough Council is at the heart of the local community. The organisation owns a wide portfolio of buildings and assets including the iconic Grade I listed Pump Rooms and a wealth of heritage properties that attract visitors from afar. It has key partnerships with The Cheltenham Trust, Ubico, Cheltenham BID and Cheltenham Festivals, among others.
You will be providing support across a wide variety of approximately 200 commercial buildings within the Council’s Property Stock, including planning, procurement and delivery of high quality reactive and planned maintenance projects. You will contribute to effective and efficient asset management strategies through undertaking property surveys and assisting in the development and delivery of programmes of work.
Working with an interesting and diverse portfolio of commercial properties, including several Grade I and II Listed buildings such as the Pump Rooms, Cheltenham Town Hall, the Art Gallery and the Museum, among others.

The Council’s office is located at Municipal Office (Promenade), which is in the heart of the Town Centre, with easy access to local amenities including the train station, restaurants, cafés, etc.
You will have a minimum of 3+ years’ building surveying experience.
Degree in Building Surveying or Construction/Property related subject.
Possess or be working towards a relevant professional membership.
The individual’s character and teamwork ethic is most important.
Basic salary range between £35,412 to £48,053.
26 days annual leave (plus BH) increasing by 1 day per year of service up to 31 days total (you have the opportunity to buy and sell up to 5 days leave).
