• Follow appropriate training and competency assessments to undertake all designated roles within the surgery team across laser vision correction (LVC) and ophthalmic (IOL) theatres.
• Pre‑operative testing and consent support, including patient information and appointment management.
<>Patient discharge, pre‑ and post‑procedure instructions, medical record updates and follow‑up appointments.
• Laser technician duties: preparation, calibration, data handling and safe operation of the lasers.
• Co‑ordinate patient flow on consent and surgery days to minimise waiting times and manage queries.
• Assist the surgeon during consent appointments and treatments – acting as scrub assistant in LVC; taking notes, instilling eye drops and supporting the team.
• In IOL theatre, support the surgical team and patients during surgery, including instrument decontamination.
• Participate in end‑of‑day activities: file updates, reporting, department cleaning, stock and lens ordering.
• Report untoward incidents and contribute to patient safety, quality and risk management.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, presentation, organisational and telephone skills.
• Show adaptability, time‑management, confidentiality, integrity and discretion.
