We work closely with Kids First Nurseries that are based within our trust grounds at Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham hospitals to care for our Trust family's children, they offer care for children from 6 weeks old up to 4 years. Whalton Unit is a 22 bedded ward specialising in care of the elderly, specifically rehabilitation. The main duties of a Nursing Assistant on the ward include assisting patients with all activities of daily living, washing and dressing, promoting independence, assisting with meals ensuring adequate oral intake and general ward duties.

• The Nursing Assistant role will assist the qualified nurse to give a high standard of care of the patients on the ward.
• Ensuring high standards of care are delivered and met on each shift.
• Working closely with the MDT and clear and concise documentation.
• Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties in hospital.
• Records patient observations and changes to patient clinical conditions.
• Carries out limited clinical care duties.

• Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties in hospital, community, and other settings.
• Records patient observations and changes to patient clinical conditions
• Carries out limited clinical care duties.
• To work under the supervision of a qualified nurse and assist in the implementation of both direct and non-direct patient care.
• To provide and promote high quality care under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional.

• Completion of a competency-based programme or equivalent relevant experience
• Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience

• Previous care experience in a health or social care setting
• Evidence of completed competencies aligned to the service area
• Customer Care course
