Salary: £25,600 per annum
Hours: Between Monday and Friday, shifts between 8:00am – 8:00pm

Are you an imaging assistant or healthcare assistant with experience in working in a hospital or outpatient clinic? Do you want to further your career in a modern private healthcare setting?

Role Overview

At Sevenoaks Medical Centre, part of KIMS Hospital, we are committed to delivering healthcare at its best. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Imaging Assistant to support our Imaging team in delivering exceptional patient care in line with the KIMS vision and clinical strategy.

This is a rotational role, providing both clinical and administrative support across ultrasound, mammography, MRI, CT and cross-sectional imaging. You will play a vital role in ensuring patients feel supported, informed and cared for throughout their imaging journey, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, dignity and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support patients before, during and after imaging procedures, ensuring comfort, dignity, privacy and reassurance at all times, while helping to reduce anxiety and promote independence.
  • Assist Radiologists, Radiographers, Mammographers and the Imaging team with diagnostic and interventional procedures including biopsies, aspirations, FNAs, ultrasound-guided injections and mammography stereo procedures.
  • Provide hands-on support within MRI and CT lists, helping ensure smooth patient flow and efficient running of imaging sessions.
  • Use Compucare, RIS and PACS systems safely and accurately, maintaining clear, confidential and up-to-date patient records.
  • Champion infection prevention and control, contribute to continuous quality improvement, maintain clean, stocked and safe working environments, and work in line with KIMS policies and procedures.

About You

You will be an empathetic, resilient and motivated individual who consistently demonstrates KIMS values. You will take ownership of challenges, act with integrity and honesty, and show a calm, constructive approach in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging clinical environment. A commitment to personal development and continuous service improvement is essential.

  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in health and social care
  • Have experience as a Healthcare Assistant or Imaging Assistant in a hospital or outpatient clinic.
  • Have a caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach with a genuine interest in delivering high-quality healthcare
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Have knowledge of radiology workflows and systems such as RIS, PACS and Compucare

Before your interview, take the time to research your potential new employer, finding out about their company values and what you might expect working there. Have a clear travel plan ready for the day of the interview, allowing extra time for possible delays - being punctual will allow you time to gather your thoughts and check your notes. And don’t forget to bring the appropriate ID with you.

Making a good first impression will get your interview off to a great start. It shows you are taking your application seriously and that you are diligent and conscientious. Dress smartly and make sure you are well presented. In no circumstances should you be chewing gum and your mobile phone should be switched off.

Take reassurance from knowing that your interviewer can often be as nervous as you. Be polite, honest and open, maintaining eye contact with them. Talk as clearly and confidently as you can and if you don’t understand a question, ask for clarification. When answering, focus on positive experiences and be prepared to go into detail about your previous positions and your future aspirations.

There will be opportunity for you to ask questions about the organisation and the role. Take this chance to ask about things that are important to you. Such as, what is expected of you in the first 6 months? Or, what training opportunities are there? Or, what has the interviewers experience of working for the company been like? It’s an excellent way of showing genuine interest.

It’s important to leave the interview on a positive note. If you haven’t already discussed it, you may want to ask when you can expect to hear about their final decision. When it is time to leave, smile and thank them for seeing you. Shake hands firmly and confidently, and if you have enjoyed discussing the job, tell them.
