A sports development organization in Leicester seeks a proactive individual to support student clubs and enhance the student experience in sports. The role involves assisting in planning and achieving development objectives, mentoring clubs, and ensuring adherence to health and safety guidelines. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, experience in sports development, and effective communication abilities. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on student sports activities through comprehensive support.
Provide specialist support to student club committees and provide an outstanding student experience for all club members; for example:
Work in conjunction with other colleagues on the planning and delivery of the annual training programme for committee members
To support the club Development Officer – Clubs in ensuring that all activities delivered are safe and undertaken within departmental, university and national governing bodies’ health and safety guideline through administration of first aid arrangements.
Support the implementation of long and short-term development plans for all DMUsport clubs and develop the implementation of DMUsport Club Development Plans.
Promote sport at DMU, both to current and prospective students, as well as the public.
Work with Sport Development Officer – Clubs to manage own project budgets effectively and undertake other administration of financial processes as and when required i.e. Transport, equipment purchase, external venue hire.
Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant colleagues, including sports clubs, leisure staff and some external stakeholders.
Support on other projects to meet the objectives of the department.
This role is on a full time basis (37 hours per week), fixed term until end of June 2026.
The ideal candidate will be an organised, proactive individual with experience supporting or delivering sports club development programmes and a strong understanding of sport development principles, particularly around increasing participation.
They will be confident building relationships with students, colleagues and external partners, and able to communicate effectively with people of varying perspectives and levels of sporting knowledge.
With strong administrative skills and the ability to manage budgets, logistics and reporting, they will bring enthusiasm for enhancing the student sport experience and supporting club committees to grow and succeed.
