Job description

Place of Work : Cedars House, Perth Road, Dundee, DD2.

Status : Casual Worker Agreement/Seasonal.

Reporting to : Head of Player Care.

Key Relationships : Head of Stadium & Facilities, Academy department staff, Football department staff.

Hours of Work : Monday – Thursday from 5pm – 11pm, plus an overnight stay, in‑line with NMW with an additional allowance paid for overnight stays.

Start Date : ASAP

Purpose:

The role of House Supervisor is a key supporting role within our care of players. This role requires flexibility, a strong work ethic, and good communication. The primary responsibility of the House Supervisor(s) is to maintain the highest standards of Safeguarding and Child Protection for the players within Cedar House and promote child welfare as the core purpose of their role.

Furthermore, the House Supervisor(s) are expected to manage and maintain all logistics and maintenance at Cedar House during times when they are on shift.

Role Responsibilities and Key Duties
  • Establish friendly, supportive relationships with resident players whilst maintaining authority.
  • Encourage players to always behave appropriately as civilised members of a boarding community, where differences are celebrated and respected by all.
  • Supervise players within the home, liaise with other staff to ensure that each student is provided with a comfortable, safe living environment and to oversee the state of repairs in the house.
  • Ensure alongside other key staff members that rooms are kept clean and tidy and that clothes and personal belongings are stored securely and tidily.
  • Liaise with other staff and cleaners to ensure that the communal areas of the house are kept clean and tidy.
  • Conduct the evening check‑in and locking up of the house.
  • Conduct the morning welfare and wake‑up, and other checks during the day.
  • In case of an emergency, ensure action is taken in line with Club procedures.
  • Take responsibility for night‑time supervision.
  • Develop the community and ethos of The Cedars in line with the club ethos.
  • Ensure players are following a healthy lifestyle and are encouraged to eat prepared meals in the evening.
  • Prepare and encourage players to eat morning breakfast.
  • Be available to players for discussion and report any concerns to the appropriate person(s).
  • Keep clear written records, following club policies and procedures relating to player welfare.
  • Attend boarding meetings with the Head of Player Care and other football staff as appropriate.
  • Participate in training/professional development, as appropriate.
  • Carry out any transport requirements for players to training and matches, including to and from the St Andrews Training Centre; this will be a key duty to be carried out at the start and end of shift, both in the morning and evening.
Qualifications/Requirements for this role
  • Highly responsible & accountable due to safeguarding of young people
  • PVG check to be completed and granted before appointment.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Experience of working with young adults/within the care sector.
  • First Aid.

  • Additional support will be made available in relation to further training if required; in the areas of food hygiene, health and safety, fire safety and child wellbeing in football.
