Job summary

A charitable organization for learning outdoors is seeking an Education Programme Manager to oversee the education programme's delivery, development, and impact. Responsibilities include managing project teams, stakeholder engagement, hosting training sessions, and ensuring effective use of resources. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in education, excellent communication skills, and experience in project management. This is a home-based role with some travel required, offering a salary of £33k pro rata for 22.5 hours per week.

Salary: £33k pro rata, 3 days per week at 7.5 hours per day spread over the week as required by the role.

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC) is the UK charity champion for all learning outside the classroom (LOtC). We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to benefit from high quality and varied educational experiences, and that these can happen everywhere – in all contexts and settings, whether near or far away, indoors or outdoors, during term time and beyond.

The Education Programme Manager is a new dedicated role to help CLOtC:

  • Administer and manage ongoing delivery of our Education Programme.
  • Develop and grow our impact so that more children and young people can benefit from high quality, progressive LOtC.

This role will be responsible for the ongoing implementation, review, and development of CLOtC’s education programme including our CPD for schools and providers, education projects, and our Learning Beyond packages of online and face to face support for schools/settings, including our LOtC Mark Hubs and Mentors.

Key Responsibilities

Administration and management of the education programme:

  • Management and development of the Project and Events Officer, freelance LOtC Mark Assessors, and of the LOtC Mark Hubs and Mentors.
  • Recruitment and management of education project staff as required.
  • Working closely with Communications and Marketing Manager, supporting promotion of the education programme, including delivering content for promotional materials/articles.
  • Moderation of the LOtC Mark and undertaking assessments where required.
  • Daily administration, including for the LOtC Mark, education projects and education enquiries.
  • Hosting the online education CPD and practice sharing sessions.
  • Supporting smooth running of the CRM system and website.
  • Routine reporting and management of performance.
  • Biannual budgeting and forecasting.
  • Work closely with the Projects and Events Officer, and the Communications and Marketing Manager, in the planning and delivery of the annual conference.

Development and amplification of education programme:

  • Ongoing review and development of support for learning settings and providers, including resources available through the website and the online learning platform, and via LOtC Hubs and Mentor schools.
  • Working closely with the Project and Events Officer and Communications and Marketing Manager, to develop the effectiveness of the processes in place to support development of our education programme.
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with stakeholders to engage more schools.
  • Supporting CLOtC to respond to, and shape, policy developments across home nations.

General:

  • Supporting CLOtC to secure partnerships and support.
  • Performing other duties consistent with the role and/or reasonably required by the CEO.
  • Acting as an ambassador for CLOtC and LOtC.
  • Ensuring effective and efficient use of charity resources.
  • Commitment to continual professional development.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Educational Qualification – One of: B.Ed, Cert Ed, PGCE or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of professional experience and expertise.
  • Other relevant qualifications or experience e.g. Level 3 Forest Schools, Bushcraft, NGB qualifications, APIOL/ LPIOL, Artsmark, Primary Science Quality Mark etc.
