This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys travel, and is excited by the opportunity to support and uplift a network of primary school music programmes.

Why Join iRock School of Music?

Founded in 2016 by father and son team John and Josh Franklin, iRock School of Music is built on a belief in the power of music to unleash creativity, potential, and passion in every child. What started in a garden shed is now teaching thousands of children in hundreds of schools across the UK, making a real impact on students' confidence and teamwork skills through rock and pop band lessons.

At iRock, we don’t just teach music—we inspire and change lives. Our workplace culture reflects these values: fun, honest, supportive, and inspiring. You’ll be joining a company that encourages innovation, values diverse learning styles, and understands the importance of creative expression.

What We Offer
  • Location: Extensive travel across the region with occasional overnight stays
  • Salary: £30,000.00 per year + fuel card + car allowance + overnight expenses
  • Holiday: 11 weeks paid school holidays per year, plus bank holidays
  • Contract: Full‑time, permanent
  • Support the Band Coach Performance Manager in championing the Band Coach performance cycle and the iRock curriculum.
  • Proven ability to inspire, support, and motivate team members to perform at their best.
  • Confident delivering feedback and coaching in a way that is constructive and empowering.
  • Experience mentoring or developing peers, ideally in a music or education setting.
  • Comfortable holding others accountable to high standards while maintaining a supportive tone.
  • Able to lead by example demonstrating professionalism, energy, and a commitment to iRock’s values.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage positively with team members and school stakeholders.
  • Organised and self‑motivated, capable of managing a regional workload alongside team support responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Field Support & Delivery
  • Deliver engaging rock and pop music lessons in a band setting to primary‑aged children across various schools.
  • Provide comprehensive cover for absent band coaches, ensuring continuity of experience and quality for children.
  • Support band coaches in lesson delivery and live events such as concerts and showcases.
  • Work closely with the operations team to assist in scheduling and delivering rescheduled sessions.
  • Contribute to logistics including management of musical equipment and distribution of marketing materials.
  • Maintain all admin responsibilities to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
Coach Development & Regional Support
  • Support the Band Coach Performance Manager by providing in‑field coaching and mentoring to a team of up to 12 band coaches in your area.
  • Carry out regular lesson observations, offer feedback, and deliver model sessions when needed.
  • Inspire and motivate coaches to uphold iRock’s mission, values, and high standards of delivery.
  • Assist the Band Coach Performance Manager with operational insights, field reports, and suggestions for process improvement.
  • Help drive student engagement and retention across your region.
  • Build strong relationships with schools and act as a trusted point of contact when needed.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and completion of all necessary administrative tasks.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 1 academic year as an iRock Band Coach or similar.
  • Proven ability to teach at least two instruments from: drums, keyboard, guitar, vocals.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and organisational abilities.
  • Confidence in delivering high‑energy sessions independently and supporting others to do the same.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and stay overnight when required.
  • A proactive, solution‑oriented mindset and a genuine passion for music education.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential).
Perks & Benefits
  • Fuel card and expense coverage for travel and overnight stays.
  • 11 weeks paid school holidays + bank holidays.
  • Professional development opportunities and mentoring.
  • Virtual GP access and support for treatment costs.
