We’re looking for a Staff Data Scientist to join our growing team in Berlin and help shape the next stage of our product and data capabilities.

This is a high‑impact role where you’ll combine hands‑on modelling with cross‑functional leadership to improve how we understand users, optimise incentives, and build the foundations of scalable, data‑informed decision making.

• Design and implementation of machine learning models which personalise recommendations for users, whilst optimising for performance, engagement and conversion within gaming user acquisition
• Build and optimise our incentives reward structures focusing on motivating and retaining users whilst improving in‑app ROAS.
• Collaborate with data analytics and engineering to improve data structures, visibility, and traceability.
• Establish technical best practices for the team, including documentation, data product ownership, measurement plans, and experimentation frameworks.
• Define and help implement KPIs that align team output with business goals, ensuring every model, dashboard, and analysis has a clear purpose and outcome.
• Mentor and support both data scientists and analytics engineers, driving high standards and helping the team scale effectively.

• Strong experience building and deploying machine learning models in a product‑driven environment, ideally in Gaming, AdTech, gambling or user‑incentive systems.
• Deep statistical and modelling knowledge for complex experimentation design, uplift modelling and causal impact estimation of counterfactual outcomes.
• Strong understanding of data engineering workflows and modern data‑stack tools (e.g. DBT, Airflow, K8s).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and Terraform.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive clarity, create structure, and bring stakeholders on board.

• Staff Python Engineer – you’ll take ownership of designing, scaling and optimising backend systems that power Almedia’s payout automation and growth experiments, enabling complex business logic into reliable, data‑driven systems at scale.
• Types of problems you’ll be solving: Build automated payout structure generation, design dynamic personalised payout algorithms, implement continuous split‑testing infrastructure, develop scalable high‑performance Python systems, improve system reliability and performance.
• Your role: Lead end‑to‑end design and development of backend systems, set coding standards, collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists and product teams, build frameworks for experiment setup, versioning and evaluation, refine system architecture.
• You have: Proven experience building large‑scale backend systems in Python, strong understanding of software architecture, system design, clean code, experience with data pipelines, A/B testing or algorithmic personalisation, strong SQL and cloud (AWS/GCP) skills.
• Bonus points: Experience with ML pipelines, model deployment, adtech systems, optimising payout/reward/incentive systems at scale, passion for gaming, data‑driven experimentation and automation.
