Job Description

We are looking for an Educational Psychologist who can articulate clearly how this role is one of public service to our children and families in Lewisham. We want EPs who are committed to being part of our team and to creating belonging across all children’s services. The position focuses on preventive local government work and the wider inclusion agenda, ensuring that all children and young people belong.

Responsibilities

In Lewisham, EPs work at all levels of the system (organisation, group, individual) to carry out the five core functions of an Educational Psychologist: Consultation, Assessment, Intervention, Training, and Research. Your role will involve:

  • Applying psychological critical thinking as part of implementation science to bridge the gap between research and real‑world practice.
  • Facilitating reflection and reflexivity, enhancing practitioners’ knowledge and skills.
  • Providing psychological safety to support emotional well‑being for educators, parents/carers and children.
  • Challenging the status quo to drive change in practice.
  • Contributing to and using the NAPEP Currie Matrix infographic to maximise systemic work.
Qualifications
  • Qualified educational psychologist with HCPC registration or enrolled in a recognised UK doctoral training programme (Year 2 or Year 3).
  • Commitment to anti‑racist practice, proactive identification of personal development needs and participation in support offered by the EP team.
  • Understanding of new SEND and inclusion reforms, with a demonstrable ability to be an early responder.
Special Conditions
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
Location

The role is primarily based in Kaleidoscope, a children’s developmental centre in the Rushey Green/Catford area, but operates a hybrid model. You will work in office, education settings, home visits and remotely on a regular basis.

Salary

£51,893 - £61,664 per annum (Soulbury A5‑10+3 SPA) + Soulbury London Allowance £4,328.21 per annum. Starting salary will be increased inline with any increases established in the Soulbury Agreement for 2025.
