Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Snowflake Data Architect with 10+ years of experience. This role requires deep expertise in Snowflake optimization, extensive knowledge of enterprise data platforms, and proven ability to design and implement cost‑effective, high‑performance data solutions at scale. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with multiple data technologies and a track record of optimizing Snowflake consumption and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise‑scale Snowflake architectures with focus on performance and cost optimization
- Optimize Snowflake warehouse configurations, including sizing, clustering, auto‑suspend, and auto‑resume strategies
- Implement advanced performance tuning through query optimization, materialized views, and result caching strategies
- Monitor and reduce Snowflake consumption costs through warehouse optimization and resource monitoring
- Design multi‑cluster warehouse strategies and workload management policies
- Implement data sharing, secure views, and row‑level security policies
- Architect and optimize end‑to‑end data pipelines for maximum efficiency and minimum latency
- Redesign existing pipelines to reduce processing time and Snowflake compute consumption
- Implement streaming and batch data ingestion patterns using Snowpipe and Kafka connectors
- Design data transformation workflows using SQL, Python, and modern ETL/ELT patterns
- Establish data quality frameworks and monitoring systems
Technical Leadership
- Provide architectural guidance for data platform modernization initiatives
- Lead migration efforts from legacy platforms (Oracle, Teradata, Netezza) to Snowflake
- Define and enforce data architecture standards and best practices
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align data architecture with business objectives
- Mentor team members on Snowflake optimization techniques and best practices
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data architecture and engineering roles
- 5+ years of hands‑on Snowflake experience with focus on optimization and performance tuning
- Proven experience with at least 2‑3 of the following platforms: Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL
- Demonstrated expertise in migrating from legacy data platforms to Snowflake
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools including Informatica, Talend, and/or Matillion
Technical Skills
Snowflake Expertise
- Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, including virtual warehouses, storage layer, and cloud services layer
- Advanced knowledge of warehouse sizing, clustering keys, and partitioning strategies
- Expertise in query optimization, execution plans, and performance profiling
- Proficiency with Snowflake features: Time Travel, Zero‑Copy Cloning, Data Sharing, Secure Functions
- Experience with Snowflake cost monitoring and optimization tools
Programming & Query Languages
- Strong SQL skills – Expert‑level proficiency in complex SQL, including window functions, CTEs, recursive queries, and performance tuning
- Good Python experience – Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation, and pipeline development
- Experience with stored procedures, UDFs, and dynamic SQL
Data Technologies
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehouse design patterns
- Experience with real‑time data streaming and CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns
- Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and catalog tools
- Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their data services
Nice to Have
- Experience with dbt (data build tool) for transformation workflows and data modeling
- Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced Architect)
- Experience with Snowpark for advanced data processing
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) integration with Snowflake
- Background in financial services, healthcare, or retail industries
