About the role

The UK Based Jamborees Team Leader plays a key role in enabling international participation at UK-led Jamborees and large Scouting events. This volunteer role supports strong global engagement by helping to promote UK events across the international Scouting community and ensuring that international participants and organisers are well supported.

The role provides leadership and oversight of the endorsement process for non-UK adult participants, ensuring that safeguarding and safety standards align with UK Scouting requirements. Working closely with event teams and national colleagues, the Team Leader helps embed best practice, shares learning, and supports the delivery of high-quality, safe, and inclusive international experiences.

  • Lead and oversee the endorsement process for non-UK adult participants attending UK-led Jamborees and events, ensuring compliance with UK safeguarding and safety standards.
  • Promote UK-based Jamborees within the global Scouting community, including representation at international events and through online channels.
  • Collect and analyse participation data, including numbers of UK and non-UK Scouts attending UK-led events.
  • Support event organisers by sharing best practice in safeguarding, safety, and global programme integration.
  • Actively contribute to the Large Events Forum, representing international participation perspectives.
  • Capture and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement across UK-led Scouting events.
Person specification
  • Experience within Scouting, with a good understanding of international participation at UK-led Jamborees and large events.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and safety best practice, particularly in an international or cross-cultural context.
  • Understanding of endorsement processes or similar assurance frameworks for non-UK adult participants at UK Scouting events.
  • Familiarity with the structure of UK Scouting and its international programmes and partnerships.
  • Experience supporting international contingents or groups attending UK-based events.
  • Experience of leading, supporting, or coordinating volunteers in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build confidence with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to positively promote and advocate for UK-based Jamborees within the global Scouting community.
  • Well‑organised, with strong planning and time‑management skills to balance multiple priorities.
  • Confident using digital tools for communication and collaboration, including email, online platforms, and social media.
  • Able to work independently and show initiative, while also contributing effectively as part of the UK International Team.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make sound, proportionate decisions.
  • Passionate about international Scouting and committed to delivering high‑quality UK-led Jamboree experiences.
  • Approachable and relationship‑focused, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, event organisers, and international participants.
  • Flexible and adaptable, responding positively to changing needs and priorities.
  • Strong commitment to The Scouts’ values, inclusivity, safeguarding, and international engagement.
  • A collaborative team player, motivated to contribute to the wider success of the UK International Team.
