A Quality Inspector in a heavy manufacturing setting reviews products and materials during manufacturing to ensure they meet company requirements. Duties include measuring objects against intended specifications, running quality tests, and identifying defects.
- Determines quality and reliability standards by studying drawings and formulas; verifies specifications with engineering staff.
- Identifies raw material conditions by collecting samples; conducts inspections and physical tests of materials.
- Identifies in-process product condition by collecting samples during production process and performing in-process inspections and physical tests.
- Determines disposition of finished product by collecting, classifying, analyzing, and interpreting production and quality data; judges product acceptability against specifications.
- Determines acceptability of rework by inspecting and physically testing reworked product.
- Documents finished product status by recording and summarizing raw materials, in-process, and finished-product inspection and physical test data; updates the quality assurance database.
- Maintains product quality documentation system by writing or rewriting quality assurance procedures.
- Maintains quality assurance operations by following quality assurance policies and procedures; reports needed changes.
- Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent.

- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- General understanding of hydraulic, electrical and air systems.
- General understanding of welding and weld quality.
- General understanding of paint process and quality.
