Contract Type: Fixed‑Term Apprenticeship, Full‑time for 13 months
Location: Southampton – Radio Solent
Salary: £22,950

This apprenticeship gives you the chance to kick‑start a career in British broadcasting, working behind the scenes on a range of productions from drama to live radio. You will learn on the job, develop your production knowledge and work toward a recognised Level 3 Production Assistant qualification.

• Script‑writing for radio and digital platforms.
• Audio editing for radio and BBC Sounds.
• Assisting with live radio shows in the studio.
• Meeting contributors and coordinating content.
• Producing video for social media and regional TV output.
• Listening to new music and supporting the BBC Introducing network.
• Helping with local events and gigs.

• Strong communication skills and teamwork focus.
• Passion for music and radio.
• Available for evenings and occasional weekends.
• Non‑graduates; if you hold a degree, consider other apprenticeships at the BBC.

To be eligible you must be 18 years old or over, have lived in the UK for the last 3 years, be legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the duration of the apprenticeship, and not currently be in another apprenticeship programme.

• No current apprenticeship enrolment.
• No prior learning required to apply.

For applicants aged 19 or under who do not meet the GCSE/Functional Skills criteria, the scheme will arrange an additional assessment to fulfil the expected baseline knowledge.
