Team Leader - Household Claims

Target Start Date: Asap
Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time, Full Time, Job Share option available
Salary Range: £27,200 - £40,800
Location: Eastleigh

We are excited to offer two Team Leader opportunities within Household Claims on twelve month secondments. We continue to build passionate, engaging, and collaborative teams that thrive in an autonomous, self‑motivated environment. As a Team Leader, through coaching and development of hybrid and remote Claims Handlers, you will act as an advocate for change. You will monitor and manage the activities of your team and communicate effectively to ensure claims are handled to a high standard. Building the capability of your people is a key element of the role as well as translating operational purpose and priorities into meaningful messages to your team.

You will work a shift pattern between 8am‑6pm, Monday – Friday. An additional requirement to work one Saturday per quarter on a rota basis, 9am‑5pm (This would be reconciled with a weekday off in the same week).

Main Responsibilities as Team Leader – Household Claims
  • Plan and prioritise work ensuring handlers perform across their priorities and measures. Commercial awareness and Customer service are both of paramount importance.
  • Undertake regular reviews, 121s coaching and audits of team's performance identifying areas for development and improvement.
  • Deal with complex claims and queries referred by Claims handlers on matters of policy cover and interpretation.
  • To lead your team by example, setting the tone of behaviour, motivating and mentoring so each individual can reach their true potential.
  • Resilience and adaptability to respond to complaints raised and escalated, including but not limited to technical letter writing ensuring that feedback is given in an appropriate way.
Skills and experience you need as Team Leader - Household Claims
  • An experienced leader: appraisals, performance management, training and development, coaching and motivational skills, conduct and capability management.
  • Proven record of problem solving and decision making with ability to multi‑task, prioritise workload and manage teams effectively.
  • A background in Financial Services is desirable but not essential.
  • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Good standard of education (4 GCSE's grade C or above) or equivalent, including Maths and English.
  • Good soft skills and use of Word and Excel.
  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • The ability to construct complex letters to achieve the best results for the customer and the company, ensuring that when necessary, technical insurance information is imparted in a clear and understandable manner.
