A community chorus organization in Newport is looking for enthusiastic vocal leaders to serve as Section Leaders for their QUORUS ensemble. Responsibilities include attending rehearsals, leading singers vocally, and performing in concerts throughout the year. Candidates should have previous choral experience, good communication skills, and the ability to read music. Compensation includes a choice between a weekly stipend or volunteer hours, ranging from $19.50 to $22.50 per rehearsal, and $50 per concert. Applications from diverse backgrounds are encouraged.
Newport Sings is seeking high school, collegiate or recently graduated singers to serve as section leaders in QUORUS. QUORUS is an LGBTQIA+ chorus for teens and adults that meets on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Florence Gray Center (Newport). More information can be found at www.newportsings.org.
The Section Leader will be a strong and reliable vocal leader for the members of their section (soprano, alto, tenor or bass). Section leaders will learn alongside the members of the ensemble and perform at all QUORUS performances.
Candidates should be enthusiastic and joyful, reliable and professional, be a good communicator, work collaboratively with members of the Newport Sings team and singers, and be a positive role model for the singers. Previous choral experience, the ability to comfortably read music and navigate a choral score, and a positive recommendation from a choral director is required.
Section leaders can opt to receive a weekly stipend or volunteer hours. The rate is $19.50 - $22.50 per rehearsal. The performance rate is $50 per concert/performance.
