A leading heritage charity is seeking an Assistant Curator of Collections and Interiors based in Bedfordshire. The role involves researching and promoting collections while collaborating with curators. Candidates should have a degree in history or archaeology and experience with museum collections. We are looking for an Assistant Curator of Collections to join our team. The role is full time 36 hours per week, and for a fixed term of 1 year (covering for a secondment).
This is a great opportunity for someone to develop their experience as a Curator.
Due to the nature of this role, you will need to undergo a basic DBS check and the employment offer will be contingent on this.
As Assistant Curator of Collections and Interiors, based at the Wrest Park Archaeology Store, you will work with the Collections Curators to research, promote and document the collection.
You will support the Curators in researching and developing stories within the National Heritage Collection. Supporting the Collections Management and Conservation teams, you will ensure excellent documentation and care of stored collections at Wrest Park. Regular travel to of sites in the West Midlands and East of England will be an important part of the role. Example projects include developing an overview of the excavated archaeology from Wroxeter Roman City (stored at Wrest Park) and contributing to the reinterpretation of Denny Abbey.
