Our Turning Point Scotland Services in North Lanarkshire are looking for people like you to help provide individualised support to adults with a wide range of needs, either on an individual 1:1 basis or alongside others and as part of a team.

Since 2013the Turning Point Scotland, North Lanarkshire Support Serviceshave worked in close partnership with North Lanarkshire Council, North LanarkshireHSCPand the relevant social work departments to empower people to take control and make decisions about their own care and support.

The Turning Point Scotland North Lanarkshire service predominantly provides self-directed support,which allows individual to have and use their own budgets which has beenpersonally allocatedto help people with a variety of needs including Physical and/or learning disabilities, autism and Asperger’s syndrome, acquired brain injury, early onset dementia, Huntingdon’s disease,mental health conditionsand people who may have complex support needs and/or forensic historiesto get the support most appropriate to their requirements.

Our service principal is to promote independence and choice and to work with the people we support to enable them to lead the life they choose. We will support people to access ordinary life experiences including education, employment and social activities as well as providing support to sustain and develop relationships and skills for everyday living including budgeting, personalcareand domestic skills for the person tomaintaintheir own home.

The support we provide is always person centred, we do this by involving people who know the person well, this includes family and friends, other health and Social Work professionals, Advocacyservicesand our own staff members.

Wecurrentlyhave44staff whosupport19individuals,7oftheseareforensicservices, thisisadevelopingfocus forus in theNorth Lanarkshireserviceand is being doneinconjunctionwith North Lanarkshire Council.

As a Relief Support Practitioner , you will work with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g. keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.

Please note that IT skills are required for all our vacancies.

Where applicable, successful candidates will be required to register with the SSSC within 6 months of start date.

Turning Point Scotland operates a List of Approved Relief Workers who may be contacted by services when there is a need to engage additional workers in order to provide the required support to someone who uses our services. Relief Workers are primarily deployed to cover periods of leave, or sickness absence and to provide additional support during periods of peak activity etc

When there is suitable work available within a service, a manager despees top to contact Relief Workers offering them a shift/series of shifts. As a Relief Worker you will be well-placed to fit your work around your existing work or other commitments and you will be under no pressure or obligation to accept work from us if it does not suit you to do so. Once work is offered and accepted by you however, there is an expectation that you will make every effort to attend to undertake that shift. Your reliability in this regard is very important to our services and to the people we support who will be expecting you Dienstag

Relief Workers submit a Time Sheet to claim payment for the hours they have worked and are paid on a monthly basis. You will accrue some entitlement to paid holidays and you will be reimbursed for all reasonable expenses incurred in the course of your work for us.

You will be required to undertake a programme of basic training which is primarily designed to enable you to operate safely, but also to meet the organisation’s obligations to you in terms of health & safety legislation.

nth>p>Relief Working at Turning Point Scotland will not normally be suitable for people who tolle full-time posts with other agencies.
