Job summary
A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Contract Test Automation Engineer to build a new test automation capability in Belfast. This is a rare chance to join a greenfield initiative that shapes the testing framework for a scalable engineering function. Candidates with senior or intermediate experience in test automation, particularly with TypeScript and Playwright, are encouraged to apply. The role offers a daily rate of £385 for a 12-month contract and allows for hybrid working arrangements.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable commercial experience with TypeScript and Playwright.
- Experience with AWS is highly beneficial.
- Exposure to Java appreciated.
- Experience in UI, API, performance, and regression testing.
- Prior experience contributing to framework architecture is ideal.
- Familiarity with CI/CD in cloud environments.
- Ability to influence engineering teams on testing best practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and expand an early-stage automation framework.
- Design and implement automated tests across the UI layer.
- Build and maintain robust API test suites.
- Support performance testing and contributions to tooling.
- Work closely with engineers to embed quality in the SDLC.
Skills
MCS Group is looking for a Contract Test Automation Engineer to play a key role in building out a brand-new test automation capability. This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor of a greenfield testing initiative, shaping the end-to-end testing framework for an engineering function operating at scale. This is a superb opportunity to secure a long-term contract in the Northern Ireland market.
This contract would suit either a Senior Test Automation Contractor, looking for a long-term engagement, or equally someone with intermediate level experience who is looking to further grow their skill set.
- Develop and expand an early-stage automation framework, taking it from initial foundations to a fully mature testing capability.
- Design and implement automated tests across the UI layer, including smoke and regression testing.
- Build and maintain robust API test suites.
- Support performance testing, contributing to tooling and approach.
- Work closely with engineers to embed quality throughout the SDLC.
- This role requires demonstrable commercial experience working with TypeScript and Playwright for Test Automation.
- Experience with AWS would be highly beneficial (platform runs fully on AWS)
- Exposure to Java
- UI, API, performance, and regression testing experience
- Ideally you will have prior experience contributing to framework architecture
- CI/CD familiarity within cloud environments
- Ability to influence engineering teams around testing best practice
