Job description
Shift Operations Technician

A vacancy has arisen for a Shift Operations Technician within the Operations team.

You will be an integral member of a team of Operations Technicians on shifts and you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant including Combustion System, Steam Boilers, Flue Gas Treatment, Steam Turbines, Generators, and all other associated plant and apparatus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe and Efficient Operation: Operating the plant during normal running, start‑ups, and shutdowns, including addressing emergency situations.
  • Plant Monitoring: Utilising the SCADA system to monitor plant operating conditions, conduct physical checks and record condition of plant and apparatus, monitor other operational requirements such as boiler water chemistry/evaporative cooling tower water chemistry.
  • Environmental Compliance: Monitor emissions and ensure compliance with the Environmental Permit, reporting any issues.
  • Maintenance Support: Support the maintenance team as needed, including first‑line maintenance, inspections, and fault finding.
  • Procedure Development: Assist with developing and maintaining operating procedures.
  • Safety and Compliance: Work within the company's safety systems and relevant legislation.
  • Waste Management: Maximise waste throughput and energy production.
  • Shift Handover: Conduct thorough shift handovers, reviewing health, safety, environmental and plant issues.
