A leading food manufacturing company in Norwich is seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Leader to oversee the engineering team. In this hands-on role, you will coordinate maintenance, troubleshoot machinery, and ensure safe operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and technical skills and the flexibility to work shifts. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Leader to oversee the engineering team in a busy food manufacturing environment. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll coordinate maintenance priorities, troubleshoot production machinery, and ensure your team delivers efficient, safe, and reliable operations.
Supervise and lead the engineering team during your shift, ensuring all maintenance and repairs are completed efficiently.
Coordinate with production to schedule maintenance and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Maintain health and safety compliance and promote a safety-first culture.
Diagnose machinery faults and support team members in problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inventory usage.
Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance skills and adherence to best practices.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
Proven experience in an engineering role with supervisory or leadership responsibilities, ideally in food manufacturing or processing.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems with hands-on troubleshooting skills.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
Commitment to health and safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment.
Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.
