A healthcare provider in Aberdeen is seeking passionate professionals to join their Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service team. The role requires an undergraduate Psychology degree and an MSc in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People, along with essential clinical experience. The selected individuals will engage in a variety of therapeutic and supportive roles, contributing to child mental health provision, professional growth, and an inclusive work environment. A relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available.
NHS Grampian Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is an inclusive, values based multi-disciplinary team including Clinical and Applied Psychology, Psychotherapy, Clinicians, Allied Health Professionals, Nursing, Psychiatry, Admin, Business and Support staff. Our team ethos promotes patient-centred care, efficiency and a culture that values, enables and develops our staff.
We are looking for warm, reflective, innovative individuals who want to make a difference to join us working with children, young people, their families and wider systems. We are seeking individuals that share values that are important to us – being respectful, kind, curious, collaborative, efficient, forward thinking and trauma informed – and those that embody these values in their day to day work.
NHS Grampian CAMHS provides a service for children and young people across the age range (0-18) and the systems around them across the Grampian region, with geographically based teams (City, Shire and Moray) alongside a specialist CAMHS Hub. There are excellent opportunities for a wide range of clinical experience within CAMHS (1:1 work, family work, group work, specialist work streams and consultation), in early intervention, contributing to departmental research & audit, taking part in local and national teaching & training; and being part of a dynamic service undergoing new developments at a challenging time nationally. Our treatment approaches are eclectic with multiple psychological modalities offered by different team members including schema focussed work, CBT, IPT, Systemic Family Therapy, FBT, ACT, EMDR, psychotherapy, play therapy and pharmacotherapy.
We are part of the North of Scotland regional CAMHS Tier 4 network and alongside out‑patient work, we work closely alongside the regional Dudhope Young People’s In‑patient Unit. As well as having strong regional and national links, CAMHS works collaboratively with our local partner agencies across Grampian to continue to develop and foster local Tier 1 and 2 community mental health and wellbeing supports for children, young people and their families. These posts have dedicated Early Intervention team time incorporated into job plans.
Tailored and supportive line management alongside one to one, peer group and multi-disciplinary supervision structures are in place to support professional reflection and growth. There is an established dynamic monthly CPD programme and a local CAMHS training group driving forward staff and team development. We host D.Clin.Psych, CYP MSC and Psychological Interventions Assistant Trainees.
Please note that an undergraduate Psychology degree and an MSc in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People are essential qualifications for this post. Alternatively, those with an MSc Psychological Therapies in Primary Care may apply if they have extensive experience working therapeutically within Children’s Services.
Previous clinical experience of working in CAMHS / with children and adolescents is essential. Experience of working collaboratively with other professional groups and partner agencies is desirable, and demonstrable research / audit experience will be an advantage.
An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available to successful candidates.
