Adult Community Services is our largest team in Cardiff supporting anyone over the age of 18 with physical disabilities and older people. The teams are made up of community and hospital based Social Workers who offer services for individuals and families from the first time they need support from Adult Social Services throughout their journey with us. Working alongside a wider multi‑disciplinary team, including Occupational Therapy teams, Social Work Assistants, Day Centre teams and Health colleagues we find solutions to best support individuals to achieve their outcomes. We have contractual relationships with a wide range of home care providers, offering care and support throughout Cardiff and residential care homes, ensuring that all options can be available to best meet an individual’s needs.

This post is a Grade 8 senior Social Worker post working within our Community Duty Team.
The service area is made up of a variety of team members, including newly qualified Social Workers and experienced Social Workers, Social Work Assistants, senior Social Workers, Team Managers and a Service Manager.
This specific role will give you the opportunity to further develop your social work skills within a professional, supportive, creative, and hard‑working team.
You will be carrying out direct citizen support which can sometimes involve dealing with complex situations. You will have the opportunity to support other colleagues within the team in a supervisory capacity whilst providing ongoing support to the Team Manager and Service Manager as needed. There is an expectation that you will be committed to service development and form part of a wider decision‑making group of professionals looking at the strategic development of this area.
We are looking for qualified, experienced Social Workers who are looking to gain further experience within Cardiff Council. As the successful candidate you will be able to work independently and manage your time.
You will be able to show you have excellent skills in assessment and the ability to write concise records and reports.
You will be a good team player, have excellent communication, organisation skills and IT skills.
A degree in Social Work or an equivalent Social Work qualification and registration with Social Care Wales is essential for this role.
You will have a commitment to supporting older people and those with physical disabilities and to working in a strength‑based, preventative way, providing the support needed to enable them to achieve what matters to them.
You will have a strong and demonstrable commitment to strength‑based approaches, a dedication to working in an outcome‑focussed way and a keen interest in your on‑going professional development, striving for excellence.
You will be committed to working in a way that promotes equality and inclusion for all our citizens.
The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.

With effect from the 1st April 2021 this post attracts a market supplement of £3000 per annum full time equivalent. This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.
