Healthcare Assistant

The Priory Norwich Hospital is looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join their team.

  • Pay: £26,488.75 per annum
  • Full time: (Week 1) Mon Tue Sat Sun (Week 2) Wed Thu Fri 8am - 8pm
  • Full training Provided

Set in the Norfolk countryside a mile outside Attleborough, the Priory Hospital Norwich is a 24/7 mental health inpatient provision, caring for both males and females across wards of varying acuity.

Ideal candidates have previous experience in a similar role, but we value the right values and behaviours that make a difference.

What you'll be doing

As part of a compassionate team, you will support patients’ wellbeing, assisting staff with care plans and routine activities, ensuring dignity and treatment.

  • Provide practical support and responsive care for intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting, complying with procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Observe and monitor patients’ wellbeing, promptly referring any unusual physical, mental or emotional events to senior staff and documenting appropriately.
  • Deliver specific interventions as delegated by a Registered Nurse, including observation, engagement, escorting, de‑escalation and management of violence and aggression.
  • Contribute to a team approach to patient care in collaboration with all multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in regular ward meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Assist in stock level maintenance, including pharmaceutical products.
  • Assist in ward cleanliness and tidiness, adhering to infection control policy and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with patients, colleagues and visitors, responding promptly and courteously.
  • Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
  • Ensure service users receive a quality service that is value for money.
  • Receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner, greeting all visitors.
