Job summary
A leading consultancy is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to head projects in the water sector. The role involves leadership in producing mechanical designs, managing multidisciplinary interfaces, and mentoring junior engineers. Ideal candidates should have over 8 years of experience in mechanical design, a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and strong skills in collaboration and communication. Advance TRS are working with a leading consultancy who are looking for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Water team. This is a key technical leadership role within the team where you will join a high‑impact water infrastructure programme delivering sustainable solutions across the UK. Our client are looking for an experienced engineer to the lead on clean water and wastewater projects from concept to construction.
- Lead the production of mechanical design deliverables (layouts, calculations, specs, reports)
- Manage multidisciplinary design interfaces (especially P&IDs)
- Support procurement, site teams, and commissioning
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers
- Ensure compliance with standards, budgets, and timelines
